Directions

Artificial intelligence is already inside the HR function, whether policies are in place or not. From drafting job descriptions to performance documentation, AI tools are being used daily, often without clear guardrails, ownership, or documentation. The result? HR leaders may be absorbing risk they never formally approved.

In this practical and interactive session, Tiffany Ingram will break down what AI use in HR is considered safe, where hidden exposure exists, and how to move beyond “experimenting with ChatGPT” into structured, defensible implementation. Attendees will gain clarity on responsible AI use, data protection basics (including PII awareness), human-in-the-loop standards, and simple audit-ready documentation practices that protect both employees and the organization.

This session is not about hype or fear, it’s about clarity. HR professionals will leave with a practical framework for using AI confidently, responsibly, and strategically within their organizations.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

·        Identify safe vs. high-risk AI use cases within the HR function.

·        Explain what PII is and why data classification matters when using AI tools.

·        Apply a simple “human-in-the-loop” standard to maintain accountability and reduce bias.

·        Recognize where informal AI use may be creating hidden compliance exposure.

·        Implement a basic AI decision log to document responsible use and protect their organization.

  • Outline immediate next steps to move from reactive experimentation to structured AI governance.
